What are the dots on the PROCELLERA?
The dots are natural elements. When wet, the elements function as tiny microbatteries that generate the electrical current on the surface of the device.
Can it be used for acute wounds?
Yes, including cuts, scrapes, abrasions, lacerations, burns, surgical incision sites, donor/recipient graft sites, etc.
Can it be used for chronic wounds?
Yes, including pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, diabetic ulcers, etc.
How much current does it produce?
When activated, it generates between 2 and 10 micro amperes (micro - one millionth), which means it is a little under one volt
Can I feel the current?
No, it is many times below the threshold of sensation.
Can I cut PROCELLERA?
Yes, it may be cut to size. Extend beyond the wound perimeter onto healthy skin area by approximately 1-2 cm.
Why does PROCELLERA need to be moistened?
The current occurs only in the presence of moisture. For optimal outcomes, keep PROCELLERA moist.
What happens when PROCELLERA is dry?
It still provides an antimicrobial barrier to the wound; however, no current is present.
Does it work upside down?
No, you must apply it so that the dots are down and in direct contact with the wound surface.
What should I use to moisten PROCELLERA?
Conductive fluids such as sterile water, sterile saline, water based-hydrogels, or wound exudate.
How wet does it need to be?
Saturate the dressing. Remove excess moisture and apply. Re-moisten daily as needed.
What kind of secondary dressings can be used?
Any waterproof dressing will help maintain a moist wound healing environment.
What secondary dressings should I use if I have sensitive skin?
Specialized adhesives like silicone adhesives or self-adherent circumferential wrap.
